"Providing Quality Family Companions"

Our addiction to Newfoundlands occurred in the summer of 1988. Our children were small and we wanted a dog that could provide pack-support for backpacking and would be good with children. Naturally, our research led us to the Newfoundland dogs. We found a dog through Newf Rescue. We named her Bryn and fell in love with her personality. However, we also discovered that she had hip dysplasia. Even though she had pain in her hips, our children would crawl all over her and she never growled or snapped at them, but would patiently endure the pain. It was such a sad day when we had to take her to the vet for the last time. She had taught us the true value of this breed: their gentle, loving natures.

We decided to become Newfoundland breeders. Because of our experience with the tragedy of having a Newf that was not physically sound, we vowed that we would not provide that type of dog in our breeding program. We believed that genetics and nutrition were the keys to providing quality family companions. So we picked our breeding dogs from sound pedigrees, had each dog checked and x-rayed by professionals to ensure the health of each dog, and provided them with the best nutrition. We have never had a puppy returned due to any health issue.

A job opportunity took us to Hawaii and we did not breed our dogs there because it was just not a very good place to raise Newfoundlands. By the time we had returned to the mainland our dogs had either died or were too old to breed. So we have started over here in Oregon. Our dogs again have come from sound pedigrees, have been checked and x-rayed to make sure that they are in good health and are fed the best nutrition possible.

We love our dogs and they are a part of the family. They are well socialized. Our dogs share our house and are not kept out in a kennel all the time. They are exercised daily and are taught to work at packing and pulling. Of course they love water! We think so highly of these dogs that it is our pleasure to place our puppies in loving homes so others can experience the joy of being owned by a Newf.
